State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak said that if the country’s youth power is to be turned into an asset, the education system should be changed from certificate-oriented to skill-oriented. He said, in this case, only mathematics, English or science education is not enough. Knowledge of frontier technologies suitable for the fourth revolution must be acquired.
He said this at the opening ceremony of ‘FutureNation Job Festival 2022’ jointly organized by Daffodil International University and UNDP at Ashulia in the capital on Thursday.
Junaid Ahmed Palak said, I believe that according to the target of Futurnation, it will be possible to ensure the employment of three thousand students in the job festival of DIU. 1 million job opportunities will be created not only in Dhaka but across the country through this festival.
At this time, the state minister urged the organizers to hold such job fairs for the students of 2,200 colleges under the National University in the district cities as well. He also requested to give necessary training and workshops to the students for jobs.
Palak said, under the ICT department, enhancing digital Govt. and Economic (Edge) project. From where we want to provide 20 thousand jobs in ICT sector with the help of World Bank. We hope that the ICT sector’s infrastructural development will enable us to meet the target of 1 million jobs by 2025.
For such job fair, we will give opportunity to use Sheikh Russell modern computer lab of ICT department and said that they can use the infrastructure and equipment of 300 schools of future rich in AR, VR to improve the skills of students, he said.
The State Minister also said that the government is working with utmost importance on Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Microprocessor Design and Cyber Security under the guidance of ICT Advisor Sajib Wazed Joy to build a knowledge-based, innovative and skill-based generation to build the country by 2041.
The State Minister requested the authorities to start work to create skilled manpower and lead in this field by approving these four courses of Daffodil International University as a smart university. He also said that if necessary lab support is required in these four cases, it will be provided from the IECT division. He said, we believe, an innovative solution can create a billion dollar opportunity for a country.
