EDP Renováveis secures 15-year contract for 297 MW wind project in Canada
EDR Renováveis has secured a 15-year Power Purchase Agreement (CAE) with TransCanada Energy for the sale of green energy produced by the Sharp Hills wind farm, located in Alberta, Canada.
In a statement sent to the Portuguese Securities Market Commission (CMVM), EDP Renováveis indicates that the 297 MW wind farm will avoid approximately 700 thousand tons of CO2 emissions per year and should start operating in 2023.
The company also says that with this agreement it will boost capacity in Canada to 0.4 GW.
It should be noted that EDP Renováveis entered the Canadian market in 2010 and this will be its third wind farm in the country.
