A magnitude 3.9 earthquake occurred after midnight, at 0:34 local time, in the Vrancea seismic zone, Buzau county, according to data published by the National Research-Development Institute for Earth Physics (INCDFP).

The quake occurred at a depth of 144 kilometers, and the intensity in the epicenter was II degrees Mercalli.

The earthquake occurred near the following cities: 66 km east of Brasov, 83 km northeast of Ploiesti, 109 km south of Bacau, 126 km west of Braila, 126 km west of Galati, 136 km north of Bucharest.

Since the beginning of March, five earthquakes with magnitudes between 2.3 and 4.1 on the Richter scale have occurred in Romania.

Last year, the strongest earthquake occurred on January 31, in Vrancea County, at a depth of 121 kilometers, and had a magnitude of 5.2 on the Richter scale. The earthquake was also felt in Bucharest.
