Drula calls for the abolition of “useless agencies to stop the robbery of public money”

“The list includes the Academy of Scientists from Romania, which has an annual budget of 10 million lei, the Institute of Advanced Studies for the Culture and Civilization of the Levant – 2 million lei of wasted money annually, the Romanian Institute for Human Rights with an annual budget of almost 3 million lei, the Institute of the Romanian Revolution from December 1989 – also 3 million lei wasted every year”, according to a press release.

“While our prices are increasing every day, PSD and PNL will borrow 100 billion lei this year to finance the hole in the budget. We have unnecessary ministries and agencies. High paying jobs with zero results, with offices, cars and special pensions. That’s how we got to the hole in the budget, financed by PSD and PNL from loans at huge interest rates. The government needs to tighten the belt, not the people. USR will come every week with concrete examples: what, how much and where should be cut, in order to stop the rise in prices. With the money saved, we can invest to keep poor children in school, we can build schools, hospitals, highways, we can reduce taxes!” said USR president, Cătălin Drula.

In this context, the leader of the opposition announced that USR has resubmitted to the Parliament a project for the abolition of the Romanian Academy of Scientists (AOSR) – a sinecure where former political leaders, security guards, criminal convicts take shelter and receive money from the state budget, including Ion Iliescu, Anghel Stanciu, Dan Zamfirescu and others.
