The Head of the Bintang Mountains Police, AKBP Cahyo Sukarnito, on Sunday (1/5/2022) confirmed an attack from the KKB against TNI-Polri personnel who were carrying out security at the church.

The KKB attack was carried out from two directions, causing two personnel to be injured.

The two injured personnel were members of the Cartenz Peace Task Force Bripda Vanny Putra Perdana and members of the 431st Battalion 431/SSP Kodim Satgas Willy John.

The two victims are currently in the process of evacuating to Jayapura using a police helicopter, said Cahyo.

It is not yet known which group the attackers belonged to.
