The head of Formula 1, Stefano Domenicali, does not like that the drivers openly criticize the innovations. In particular, he did not like Max Verstappen’s statement at the official FIA press conference that the sprint stages should be abandoned.

Racers are part of this sport and this business, which is growing because we can see the bigger picture. Sometimes it’s not easy to step out of our comfort zone, but we can’t afford to be content with what we’ve achieved.

We’ll look at some of the specifics of the sprint weekend format at the end of the season when we run it six times. And of course, we won’t have sprints every weekend either. But we have a new audience, we need to make every session spectacular, and not let everyone drive in circles solely for the benefit of engineers and riders.
