- Spotify is one of the most popular music and podcast platforms
- Users can use the application for free, but they are plagued by annoying ads
- We found a way out of it!
It probably doesn’t make sense to introduce this popular music app for a long time. Spotify is a digital music platform that offers streaming a plethora of podcasts and songs of perhaps all conceivable artists and genres. You can use this service either as a premium user for a fee, or completely free of charge, with annoying ads accompanying you here and there. But is it possible to get rid of them?
Option one – Pay
Of course, in the context of the headline, this tip is a bit upside down, but in principle it’s the easiest way to avoid all sorts of commercial inputs when listening to music.
- Benefits – Slightly more settings and no ads
- Disadvantages – not free, monthly fee costs 5,99 € (155 CZK)
Option two – Mute ads
This method is quite nice, and most importantly free. Requires only one. You need to download applications to your device SpotMute. After installation, you must grant it permission by yourself, in order to completely mute the content played through the integrated broadcast status function when annoying advertisements pop up. Another thing is that in the Spotify settings you have to activate the “Device transmission status”, which is necessary for proper operation.
- Benefits – You’re finally at peace with your ads
- Disadvantages – Everyone may not like interrupting content, the need for a third-party app
Option three – Use AdBlock
Of course, this option applies to those of you who use Spotify on a laptop or computer. For example, if you use the popular Mozilla Firefox browser, it’s available as an add-on uBlock Originwhich blocks ads relatively reliably. The next step is to type “about: config” in the browser’s address bar and confirm with the Enter key, as recommended by the server Android Headlines.
Enter “media.eme.require-app-approval” in the search field and change the status to “False”. Use the “plus” icon to create a new record in the user agent. Click on Boolean and enter the name “general.useragent.override” in the new string and enter the following: Mozilla / 5.0 (Linux; Android 7.0; SM-G892A Build / NRD90M; wv) AppleWebKit / 537.36 (KHTML, as Gecko) Version / 4.0 Chrome / 60.0.3112.107 Mobile Safari / 537.36.
Finally, confirm with “Create”. Then log in to Spotify and everything should run like butter (we haven’t tried this method yet – editor’s note).
- Benefits – Life without commercials is fine
- Disadvantages – a little over the knee and in the case of other browsers even more laborious
