Assessment tests are not exactly a novelty in our education system. However, this school year there is a controversy surrounding these assessment instruments since the government decided that the assessment tests for the 2nd, 5th and 8th years would be done in digital format. Many are against this change, especially with regard to younger students. Therefore, in our weekly question, we want you to tell us if you agree with the 2nd year assessment tests in digital format. Do you agree with the 2nd year assessment tests in digital format?
This academic year 2022/2023 we have something new with regard to the assessment tests, since the Portuguese government decided that the 2nd, 5th and 8th year tests were carried out in digital format for the first time. In addition, the government also hopes that by 2025 all national tests and exams will be in electronic format.
However, although technology is more than present in our lives and tasks, many parents, teachers and directors of education systems do not agree with digital assessment tests for younger students, namely those attending the 2nd year. As suggested by DN newspaperthis opposition is due to the fact that these students “are still improving their fine motor skills and in the process of acquiring reading and writing skills“.
In social networks, discontent is also felt through several publications from parents and teachers and also from professionals, such as the well-known psychologist Eduardo Sa.
