The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has launched a drive to evict illegal structures on the sidewalks in the capital’s Agargaon and Shyamoli Shishumela areas. The company demolished about 60 illegal installations in the operation.
The operation was led by DNCC Executive Magistrate Tajwar Akram on Tuesday (January 12th). The operation started at 11:15 pm and continued till the afternoon.

Executive Magistrate Sarwar Akram said there are many government and private hospitals in Shyamoli and Agargaon areas. Illegal shops were set up on the sidewalks around these hospitals. As a result, pedestrians could not move freely on the sidewalk. For this purpose, food shops, settlements and temporary shops selling medical supplies have been evicted.
