The widening of DN7 to four lanes on the sector between Tălmaciu and Boița aims to increase road safety by eliminating the “black spot” in Tălmaciu, the place where accidents frequently occur. The three-kilometer section on which the works are being carried out has several turns and on the construction site the builder is concentrating on the deviation from the entrance on the Olt Valley.
The widening works started in the autumn of last year, and will be completed in “about a month”, according to a post by the Brașov Regional Roads and Bridges Directorate.
,, We are working intensively on laying the wear layer on the widened area with 4 lanes on DN 7, in Sibiu County, between Tălmaciu and Boița. According to the contractor’s estimates, the works will be completed in about a month and the section will be completely returned to traffic “, it is shown in a post of DRDP Brașov.

The value of the works is for the section between kilometers 251 and 254 is 22 million lei. The segment between Tălmaciu and Boiţa is part of a larger project for widening the road between the border with Vâlcea County (Căineni-Lazaret) and the intersection with DN 1 from Veştem. In 2016, on the segment between Lazaret and Boiţa (4 km.), In the Spart Tower area, consolidation and widening works were carried out on three and four lanes, respectively.
On DN 7 Valea Oltului, on the same sector between Tălmaciu and Boiţa, at the end of next year, the connection with the first lot of the A 1 Sibiu – Piteşti Highway will be made. The Sibiu – Boiţa section (13 km), where the PORR builder from Austria works, has exceeded the physical stage by 50% and could be opened in December 2022.
The unloading from the highway in DN 7 is provided by a classic roundabout, with a diameter of 47 meters. Given that on DN7 the road has only one lane per direction, traffic jams will definitely form here. One solution to prevent this is to reconfigure the classic roundabout to the profile of “turbo-rotation” as is done on the Bucharest Beltway, in Otopeni. Such a roundabout allows fast travel for a direction of traffic by delimiting the traffic entering the turn.
