DKPP Revoked Position, KPU Chair: I Did Not Violate

Suara.com – The Election Organizer Honorary Council (DKPP) removed Arief Budiman as Chairman of the General Election Commission (KPU) because he was deemed to have committed a violation.

Arief was removed from his position because he was deemed to have violated the election administration code of ethics. Arief felt that he had never made a mistake.

“I have never committed violations and crimes that hurt the integrity of the elections,” said Arief when contacted, Wednesday (13/1/2021).

Arief said at this time he had not received an official file regarding the decision to remove him from the DKPP. He will learn about the decision after receiving the official file.

“Hard copy has not been received. In fact, we can do that in soft files … But officially we usually send hard copies. So we wait, we learn then what we want to do later,” he said.

Previously, DKPP removed the position of Chairman of the Indonesian KPU, Arief Budiman. Arief Budiman was fired for violating the code of ethics.

Arief Budiman was declared to have committed violations and received strict sanctions, being fired from the position of Chairman of the Indonesian KPU.

Arief Budiman’s dismissal from his position was taken based on the DKPP decision at the trial for the reading of case number 123-PKE-DKPP / X / 2020.

DKPP Chairman Muhammad in his decision said Arief’s dismissal was a harsh sanction given to the Chairman of the KPU for the 2017-2022 period.

“Imposing the final harsh warning sanctions and dismissal from the post of Chairman of the KPU to defendant Arief Budiman as Chairman of the KPU since this decision was read,” Muhammad said as quoted by Suara.com on Wednesday (13/1/2021).

Muhammad at the same time ordered the KPU to implement the decision no later than seven days after the verdict was read. He also asked Bawaslu to also supervise the verdict.

“Request Bawaslu to supervise the implementation of this decision,” said Muhammad.

It is known that the decision was related to the alleged violation of the election management code of ethics by Arief. The reporting was done by Jupri.

In the report, Arief was questioned for accompanying Evi Novida Ginting Manik, who had been dismissed by DKPP on March 18, 2020, to register a lawsuit with the Jakarta State Administrative Court.
