– “Collaborathon” – digital consultations for small and medium-sized enterprises
SARAJEVO – Salko Kovač, a food technologist from Breza, in his work encountered the problem of effective monitoring and supervision of the food safety system in 40 facilities located in the area of Sarajevo Canton. This system which ensures the health safety of food for end users, better known as HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) system, is a legal obligation of legal and natural persons registered for food business.
“Through the work and monitoring of the system, I noticed that very often during the execution of the activities provided for in the HACCP plans, there is a failure to perform certain tasks in a timely manner, which can affect the food safety system and thus cause health consequences for consumers. I was thinking about how to improve the food safety system, facilitate the monitoring and execution of tasks for employees, and ensure quality monitoring for the people who manage the system”Salko points out.
He found the solution in digitizing the process. He started researching the market and found out that there were programs in the region that partially suited him but were not affordable. He set out to solve the problem himself. He soon realized that he needed the help of IT experts in order to adapt his ideas into a language understandable to programmers.
In April 2021, he founded the company Lid with the support of Mozaik Foundation, and in June of the same year he applied to Days of digital consultations “Collaborathon” – an event aimed at owners and managers of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) who want to discover ways in which they can improve their business using digital technologies. During the three-day workshop, he presented his idea to digitization experts, and with their help, he worked out a process map and translated his idea into a form that this time was comprehensible to programmers. As part of the professional support, he received an additional fund of free consulting hours from the IT company, which he used to improve the functionality of his web application, which was named FASTI.
During the year 2022, the FASTI web application was finalized, tested and placed on the market, and it has already acquired the first users who, as a digital tool, improved and facilitated the management of the food safety system. The application is intended for the catering, education, health, and grocery sectors, and is especially suitable for companies with a large number of business units.
“Companies that have an idea how to digitize and improve some of their processes, by participating in the “Collaborathon” they will get an ideal opportunity to, in cooperation with experts in the field of digitalization, as well as people who think in a similar way, improve the processes in their company and take the next step towards finalizing your idea”, points out Salko as the reason why companies should apply for the “Collaborathon”, which will be held this year from 2 to 4 December in Sarajevo, organized by the Association for Digital Transformation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Interested companies can find out more and apply by November 25 through the website https://digitalnekonsultacije.ba/ .
The days of digital consultations are designed to provide a superior experience of education and mentoring in the context of the use of IT solutions to improve the company’s operations. Together with digital experts, the company will identify possible solutions and methods of implementation, on the basis of which it will prepare the concept of digitalization of its business. During the event, participants will have the opportunity to present their concept to interested IT companies from BiH in the form of so-called B2B meetings, i.e. through “one-on-one” conversations. In this way, IT companies are given the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the needs of companies and market requirements in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and to apply some of their existing solutions or develop new ones. “Collaborathon” helps companies to improve business in any segment, such as: transformation and optimization of the production process, improvement of product or service characteristics, interaction and relations with customers, internal or external communication and decision-making process, data processing process, etc.
Collaborathon is part of the project “Innovation and digitalization in small and medium-sized enterprises in BiH” implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the Ministry for Economic Development and Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Germany.
In addition to the Government of Germany, the project is financed by the European Union, as part of the EU4DigitalSME program of the European Union to support small and medium-sized enterprises in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the framework of digital transformation, which makes them competitive, more skilled, more favorable and environmentally friendly. The project of digital transformation of small and medium enterprises in Bosnia and Herzegovina is implemented by GIZ and EBRD.
The goals of the “Collaborathon” are to raise awareness of the possibilities of digitization and to develop the innovative spirit of small and medium-sized enterprises in Bosnia and Herzegovina. PR
