For the second year in a row, we are witnessing an internet commerce revolution. While customers changed their everyday life, habits and desires due to the pandemic, companies went through the digital transformation of business, changed strategies, giving priority to online channels and tools. The Internet has become “overnight” the dominant channel of communication and information, both in the world and in the domestic market. The number of online purchases in Serbia increased from 7 million in 2019 to 14.3 million in 2020, while in the past year 455 million euros were spent in Serbia, and 1.8 million citizens used online shopping services.
Shopping online brings a whole new experience for consumers and an opportunity to quickly and easily provide products and services, compare prices and find the right deals. Companies that have online stores are recording increasing success, and it is among them Digitec Galaxus, a company that opened its office in Belgrade in 2016.
One of the most popular online stores that has been operating in the Swiss market since 2001 and Germany since 2018, with over three million different products in its offer, today has more than 2,500 people internationally. The Digitec Galaxus stood out in 2020 with its dizzying success and with an incredible 59% growth, with a total turnover of over 1.6 billion euros.

“The key to long-term success in online shopping is to create customer loyalty and create a quality user experience. We also provide support and personalized communication with clients in Switzerland and Germany through an office in Belgrade, especially attaching importance to transparency towards customers, who know how to recognize and appreciate it, which is why they keep coming back to us, which is what Digitec Galaxus stands out for. from the competition “, he pointed out Aleksandar Zabunović, director of the local office Digitec Galaxus.
The growth trend of online commerce is noticeable in all segments, and it is predicted that by 2030, more than 85% of companies will be engaged in e-commerce globally. For Serbia, the forecast is that the total investment in online trade during 2021. exceed 400 million euros, which means that an increasing number of customers trust and accept the benefits of e-shopping.
“The plan for the next period is to conquer the European market. Our strategy is to expand our business, for a start, to the territory of Austria in 2021, while in the coming years it will expand to the rest of Europe. The focus in Belgrade will be on the development of new departments, expanding the range and the amount of product data, which will naturally open space for expanding teams and new jobs, primarily for IT professionals. We try to carefully monitor the further development of the Serbian market. Entering the domestic market and opening an online store in Serbia is very possible, because we believe that our business model, twenty years of experience that we can boast of and the company’s culture, will be successful in this region, “ Zabunovic concluded.
