Different banking situations can be practiced in virtual reality

Bank branch employees can be prepared for a number of situations.

A Warp VR Dutch startup specializes in training employees in virtual situations using virtual reality. For example, you can learn how someone should respond to an emergency or how a person should be given first aid. Erste Bank has decided to use the service and prepare its employees for various banking situations. With virtual reality goggles, employees can learn how to respond to a bank robbery, a hostage-taking, a health emergency, or how to use safes in a safe way.

David Gezzele, Head of Education and Development, Erste Bank according to virtual reality glasses and 360-degree vision make it much easier to immerse yourself in a situation, much more realistic than educational videos or games. Feedback from the experimental phase showed that playing in a virtual reality environment has significant added value and the emotional charge is also much higher. Every decision made in a virtual reality environment has an impact on further events. Thus, there are no linear trajectories and good or bad paths, but only better and worse reactions to each situation.

The officials of the financial institution and the startup prepare the different situations and decide what elements each story should be made up of. All stories are recorded in existing bank branches with the involvement of actors and real employees. The test period lasted nearly two years and participants tried out the Oculus Go and Quest glasses, but also the simpler solutions that had the smartphone as the screen. Virtual reality tests will be extended to all bank branch employees over time.
