This myth was denied by the Chair of the Indonesian Doctors Association Task Force, Prof. Zubairi Djoerban, who said that heart patients may consume goat meat, as long as the disease has been treated and controlled.

Then, for patients with diabetes and hypertension, goat meat can still be consumed, if the hemoglobin A1c value in the test is well controlled, with a value of less than 6.5.

“It’s the same for hypertension. As long as it’s controlled. For example, blood pressure is 135/85. Yes, it’s okay to eat goat satay,” he explained.

In addition to being controlled, the doctor who practices at Kramat 128 Hospital, Jakarta, reminded the need for a good diet, in order to enjoy goat meat which has a special taste.

“You have to regularly eat vegetables and fruit plus exercise discipline every day. Then you are welcome to eat goat satay. In principle, anything in excess is not good,” he concluded.
