“The list of nominees makes me proud,” said AFK director Annabelle Birnie in the press release. “It is a fantastic reflection and representation of the art and of the inhabitants of our beloved city. I look forward to the ceremony in October, where we celebrate the significance of culture together – but also the strength and creativity of Amsterdam makers. ”

The Amsterdam Prize for Art is annually awarded by the AFK to three artists or institutions ‘whose work makes a special contribution to the artistic versatility of the city’. The prize consists of 35,000 euros and a scale in the form of the map of Amsterdam, designed by Frederik Roijé. This year’s winners will be announced in October.
