Virtue

He has already celebrated with Erdem Moraliogl during the London Fashion Week 15th anniversary of its fashion collections. The Canadian-Turkish designer thus presented his first collection on the catwalk since the beginning of the pandemic, in which he paid tribute to the poet, at the colonnade of the British Museum in Bloomsbury. Edith Sitwell (also thanks to a recitation of the poem Astronomers and Gardeners from 1953) and a modernist patron Lady Ottoline Morrell.

Both named women lived in their minds, according to the designer, at a different time than the one in which they actually lived, and this was reflected in their clothing.

The silhouettes of the individual models framed the first half of the last century, to which Erdem connected modest fabrics combined with rich decoration and details in the form of floral embroidery, quilted skirts and lace dresses. He added great combinations of romantic men’s clothing, in which he supported his sense of tenderness and expression of the most realistic fashion dreamer.

Emilia Wickstead

The Emilie Wickstead collection is definitely one of those at British Fashion Week the most successful and discussed. The designer decided to inspire French film for her latest spring collection Last year in Marienbad from 1961, a film celebrating romance, music and strong female characters.

The presentation of the collection took place in the English countryside, more precisely in a magnificent residence Babington House, in a large garden and hedges, as surreal as seen in the film.

Emilia transferred the charm of the 1960s to voluminous skirts, rich colors and rose prints. Oldschool mixing with a modern touch is exactly what Wickstead represents. Notice the reduced waist, A-cuts, eye-catching fabrics, belts and corset details.

Roksanda and her women in motion

Roksanda Ilinčice’s collection is a big celebration, a celebration of the fun of movement, with which her friend and artist seconded her. Holly Blakely, which helped create the choreography of the immersive dance performance that accompanied the opening of the collection. The main task was to express the most famous emotions, which have accompanied or have accompanied us all over the last year and a half.

Roksanda has picked up a magic wand several times and then charms with colors and fabric. Silk evening gowns literally melt under your hands, bulky trench coats are gradually inspired by men’s suits from the 80’s. There is also the use of transparency or tassel waves, which add dynamics to the models.
