Design, 27 million euros for water works and infrastructures


30/08/2022 – 27 million euros, more than those already allocated previously, are assigned for the construction of water infrastructure of particular importance and to give new impetus to the infrastructural development of the Special Economic Zones (Six).

Resources derive from the Fund for infrastructure feasibility design and of the priority settlements for the development of the country, as well as for the infrastructure project review already funded, and concern interventions consistent with the Infrastructure, Logistics and Mobility Annex to the Economic and Financial Document (DEF) 2022.

The breakdown was decided with a decree signed by the Minister of Infrastructures and Sustainable Mobility (Mims), Enrico Giovannini.

In particular, the decree provides for the destination of approx 19 million euros for planning of interventions aimed at cope with the water emergency it’s at strengthen the river basin system in order to reduce losses and combat drought, securing the infrastructural heritage and enhancing the capacity of the reservoirs.

The interventions concern the seven hydrographic districts and the related district basin authorities (Eastern Alps, Padano, Northern Apennines, Central Apennines, Southern Apennines, Sardinia and Sicily).

8 million euros they are instead intended for the design of infrastructural interventions to support the development of aree ZES (Abruzzo, Calabria, Campania, Puglia-Basilicata Interregional Ionian, Puglia-Molise Interregional Adriatic, Eastern Sicily, Western Sicily, Sardinia).

The decree follows the agreement acquired at the Unified Conference on August 3, 2022 and implements the provisions of the Infrastructure, Logistics and Mobility Annex of the Economic and Finance Document (Def) 2022, which allocates these resources “to further support the policies already undertaken for the development of the water sector, intends to expand the allocation of the priority works planning fund to allow the project financing (at PFTE level) of water infrastructures of particular importance and size, which are part of the National Plan of infrastructural and safety interventions in the water sector, and having as implementing subject subjects who are unable to provide autonomous resources for the development of the design “, as well as to give new impetus to the development of the Special Economic Zones (SEZ).

The beneficiary bodies, which can also use the resources by making use of agreements with other bodies or with delegation of functions, must send to Mims (Department for public works, human and instrumental resources – Directorate General for state construction, housing policies , urban redevelopment and special interventions) the list of plans / projects / project reviews for which they intend to use the assigned resources accompanied by the Single Project Code (CUP). The list must be submitted within 60 days from the date of opening of the terms for the presentation of the proposals indicated by the directorial decree which will be published on the institutional website of the Ministry.
