Demand exploded with the coronavirus epidemic! Production accelerated

The consumption of vinegar, which is stated to strengthen the immune system and is mostly used in pickles and salads, has increased as a cleaning product with the Kovid-19 outbreak.

Vinegars produced in Turkey were in demand from abroad.

Vinegar production increased by 66 percent in 2020 compared to the previous year and reached 53 thousand tons.

While the export income of vinegar was 4 million 895 thousand dollars in 2019, it increased by 44 percent in 2020 to 7 million 28 thousand dollars.

In 2021, exports decreased to 5 million 363 thousand dollars with the effect of stockings made in the previous year.

This year, vinegar exports reached 3 million 84 thousand dollars in the January-July period, with an increase of 20 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.

This year, the highest demand came from the USA with 1 million 66 thousand dollars. The USA was followed by Germany and Saudi Arabia.

The President of the Vinegar Producers Association (SirkeDer) Gürhan Güven stated to the AA correspondent that white vinegar, which is consumed for cleaning purposes, has an important role in increasing the vinegar production to 53 thousand tons in 2020.

Stating that the demand is reflected in the production, Güven said, “The vinegar started to enter even the houses that did not use vinegar during the pandemic. He continued and we predict that the vinegar production in the Turkish market will reach 60 thousand tons this year.” said.

Stating that there is a vinegar market of approximately 2.3 billion dollars in the world, Güven emphasized that despite the easing of the Kovid-19 epidemic, vinegar continues to be in demand all over the world.

Güven stated that the increasing demand causes adulteration (producing contrary to its specifications/mixing different substances into the product), and continued his words as follows:

“As an association, we are working hard to produce the right and best quality vinegar. We established the association both to protect consumer health and to pave the way for Turkey’s exports. Consumers have to watch their economic situation, but they should not give up on known vinegar brands. Because we are people who have signed the ethical rules, this We are in an effort to produce a solution together with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in the struggle.”
