The authorities have stopped the activity of over 100 fixed vaccination centers, and the measure will continue, announces the president of CNCAV, Valeriu Gheorghiță. He says the centers will resume operations after demand grows due to the potential of the Delta variant to become dominant.
“Last week we re-evaluated the efficiency of fixed vaccination centers. At present, about 80% of the number of fixed vaccination centers vaccinate less than 25% of capacity. 117 fixed vaccination centers have temporarily stopped their activity, 371 centers for which the work schedule has been reduced and the number of flows in the active centers has been reduced ”, says Valeriu Gheorghiță.
He states that efficiency measures will be continued in the next period.
“It is very probable that we will have many more centers in which we will have the activity temporarily stopped, so that there will be a uniformization of the geographical coverage in each county. This measure is taken to balance costs and to enable the campaign to accelerate in rural areas. It is also possible to return very quickly to the original structure of the fixed centers when the demand for vaccination increases. We anticipate that in the next period we will have an increasing addressability due to the potential of the Delta variant to become dominant among the population globally and as the data are estimated and expected very likely that in our country we will have an increase in the number of cases caused by the Delta strain ”, concludes the coordinator of the national vaccination campaign.
As of Tuesday, in Romania, 1,081,030 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus (COVID – 19) were confirmed. 1,045,351 patients were declared cured.
