Deadline for list of suspension bridges extended, 66 for demolition, 19 more municipalities out of 145 have not submitted reports

The ADDITIONAL deadline given by the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Goran Vesić, to cities and municipalities in the Republic of Serbia to list suspension bridges and determine their condition expired yesterday.

Of the 145 local governments that received the order, 126 made a census and assessed the situation, and 19 did not send a report.

– 66 suspension bridges were listed, of which 9 were determined to be demolished, 46 bridges required rehabilitation and 11 bridges were in good condition. Competent local inspections now have the obligation, by law, in accordance with the assessment they have made, to prohibit the use of certain of those bridges, as well as to order the demolition or rehabilitation of those bridges whose condition requires it. The order to carry out the demolition of bridges whose rehabilitation is not possible, as well as to rehabilitate those where possible, will be given to local governments by the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure.

The report was not submitted by local governments: Bački Petrovac, Blace, Bujanovac, Velika Plana, Vlasotince, Vrbas, Žabari, Žagubica, Inđija, Irig, Knjaževac, Loznica, LJig, Nova Crnja, Prokuplje, Ruma, Sremska Mitrovica, Subotica and Čajetina – he said. Minister Vesić.
