Unexpectedly, but not entirely unusual, Wizards of the Coast has made available two maps for the download free.
The company responsible for the production of the most famous role-playing game in the world has in fact made available the maps of two of its most classic settings: Dragonlance e Mystara.
Specifically, the map concerning Mystara will make us “travel” to the mysterious ones eastern lands to the distant Isle of Dawn (Isle of Dawn in the original).
As for the world created by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman, the map is about the continent of Ansalon: we will then be able to rediscover the places made famous by trilogy of dragons, from the tragic story of Huma and many other characters that have made the history of fantasy.
Both maps can be downloaded directly from the page DriveThruRPG of the Hasbro branch through these two links:
In all honesty, we can’t help but wonder if these gifts are part of some larger project that may affect one or both settings: over the past year, Wizards of the Coast had hinted that it was working for the publication, in a fifth edition, by ben three great settings of the past.
Especially in the case of Dragonlance this is a further element that leads to think that in the plans of the American company there is the will to re-propose the world of Krynn (but, it must be said, at the moment they are only speculations without real foundation).
In fact, alongside the map we have the statements of Joe Manganiello who had mentioned that he had had some unpublished D&D material on hand, mentioning news for the Fifth Edition referring to draconian, iconic race of Dragonlance.
More recently Weis and Hickman reached an out-of-court agreement on the publication of a new trilogy set in the universe they created in 1980: initially canceled by decision of the Wizards of the Coast, it could instead be the object of the mystery surrounding the “Dragonlance 1 Paperback”Appeared no later than two days ago on Amazon’s UK store and scheduled for July 29th.
In short, if Eastern Countries seems to be a gift with no “ulterior motives”, The World of Krynn Trail Map would seem to fit into a perfect market strategy: rekindling an old love that never really died.
