Day of sports and dance of the Daugavpils region “Winter joys – 2021” will be held remotely

This year, the Day of Sports and Dance of the Daugavpils region Ziemas prieki – 2021 (“Winter joys – 2021”) will be held in a remote format, the regional self-government was informed about this.

Every year, in the winter, folk dance groups gather in the Daugavpils region – both local and from neighboring regions. In the first half of the day, sports competitions are held, and in the second, Latvian folk dances are performed. Traditionally, the event takes place in a friendly atmosphere, delights the audience with bright colors.

This year folk dance groups will prepare videos and photos of the sports events held. A video film “Winter Joys – 2021” will be formed from the submitted materials.

At the next stage, which will be called “Dance Day”, folk groups will perform. Participants of the event will be sent information about the date and time of the second part – the timing will depend on the epidemiological situation in the country.

In a photo or video, teams will have to present six winter entertainments: descending a slide, throwing snowballs at a target, making a snowman, completing the “throwing a tree” task, dancing and singing around the tree, as well as recording wishes for dancers in 2021.

Materials sent to the competition will be evaluated by the responsible committee, and the results will be announced during the second stage. The teams will be awarded with prizes.

Applications for participation and materials for the first part, as well as photo and video evidence should be sent to the head of the Svente National House Victor Petashko (vp[email protected]) until February 25.
