Daugavpils satiksme will purchase new eco-friendly buses and sell old ones to third countries

Last week, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the decision to allocate 10 million euros to Daugavpils for the purchase of new environmentally friendly buses running on compressed natural gas. Daugavpils satiksme will purchase 35 new city buses within the framework of the project for the development of environmentally friendly public transport infrastructure.

According to the head of the enterprise, Sergei Blagoveshchensky, in the program “Dialogue with the City” on radio Alise Plus, the money allocated by the government will be used to purchase 20 12-meter (and more) and 15 small buses (minibuses). A tender has already been announced for their purchase.

According to the head, the Minister of Transport Talis Linkays during his visit to Daugavpils took the problem of the technical condition of city buses very seriously, got into the position and supported the project to replace the obsolete bus fleet. This will allow to keep up with the times and develop the infrastructure of urban public transport, says Sergei Blagoveshchensky.

At the same time, the old buses will not stand idle: the company is going to sell them to the so-called secondary market, and they will go to third countries.

For the new buses, the municipality has planned the construction of a special petrol station with a total area of ​​3,000 square meters in the city. According to the regulation, the new filling station will operate around the clock, supplying buses with compressed natural gas (LNG).
