Dan Petrescu, debut with the left

Dan Petrescu, former coach of CFR Cluj, started on Saturday with a defeat on the bench of his new team, Kayserispor, located in the bottom of the ranking of the Turkish first division.

Kayserispor was defeated by Șumudică’s former team, Gaziantep, with 2-1, the winning goal being scored by the Romanian Alexandru Maxim, from the penalty spot.

Saturday, January 16, was supposed to be the day of the derby between the Romanian coaches from Turkey. It was not to be, because shortly after Dan Petrescu settled at the helm of Kayserispor, Marius Șumudică was fired from Gaziantep.

Dan Petrescu’s task of saving Kayserispor from relegation did not start at all, the trip to Gaziantep being a very difficult one. Especially in the conditions in which besides the unavailability of Silviu Lung, also intervened that of Alibec, but also of 3 other basic players.

Petrescu’s students started with the left, scoring an own goal, in the 30th minute of the game. 16 minutes after the break, Kolovetsios equalized (1-1, min. 61).

However, Dan Petrescu was “betrayed” by another Romanian, Alexandru Maxim, who converted a penalty kick with which the hosts took the lead (2-1, min. 77).

The Romanian coach tried to be more offensive at the end, making all the changes after receiving the goal, but Keyserispor failed to equalize.

Dan Petrescu’s team remains with 16 points on the 18th place, but can be overtaken in this stage by two other pursuers.
