Dan Barna announces the elimination of special pensions for parliamentarians

USR PLUS leader Dan Barna announced that the elimination of special pensions for parliamentarians will be on the agenda of the reunited permanent bureaus, and will enter the reunited plenary of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate no later than next week.

“There was also a discussion about such an important issue for USR PLUS, but also for the entire coalition (governing – no.), That related to special pensions and, in the short term, special pensions of parliamentarians. It will be on the agenda of the Permanent Bureau Meeting tomorrow morning (Tuesday morning – no.), So on Wednesday, when there will be a plenary session, I hope to have on the agenda the regulations on deputies and senators, so that we can vote, see if we succeed on Wednesday, the elimination of the special pensions of the parliamentarians, a necessary first step, a promised first step, a first assumed moral obligation ”, says the USR PLUS leader Dan Barna.

He says that the priority is “solving the whole problem of special pensions”.

“But we know from the CCR decisions, and I want to get out of this logic of rhetorical hypocrisy that we see in various media spaces. Each category of pensions called special in a generic way must have a separate regulation and law, precisely to avoid problems of constitutionality. Then, what I agreed with the coalition – indeed, my colleague, Deputy Prime Minister Kelemen Hunor, expressed reservations about this approach – but what I am saying is to take the steps we need to take. The special pensions of the parliamentarians are a natural step, a logical step. For the other categories we have a working group through which we analyze which is the legally sustainable and functional approach, whether the solution means taxation, where CCR told us that it cannot be eliminated, or the elimination. We have established in principle a term of two months in which to have these options and variants for each category of special pensions “, adds Barna.

He states that the project to eliminate the special pensions of parliamentarians will enter the reunited plenary of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate no later than next week.
