Cyber fraudsters intensify due to new payments for schoolchildren

Since the announcement of payments for schoolchildren for the new academic year, the activity of cyber fraudsters has increased several times. In the first half of July alone, 170 fake sites were identified, said Evgeny Voloshin, director of the expert services block at BI.ZONE.

According to him, no sites dedicated exclusively to payments to families with school-age children have yet been identified. However, on the pages found by specialists, scammers generally focus on receiving monetary compensation from the state, writes RIA Novosti… The attackers show how much monetary compensation is supposedly available, indicate the exact amount of payments and offer to contact a lawyer of the fake organization to charge money.

Voloshin noted that a fraudulent scheme can develop in several scenarios. One of them is the theft of user card data when they are entered on a phishing resource. The second is when the victim is asked to pay a small commission under various pretexts. “Naturally, after paying the commission, no one will pay the user money,” the expert noted.

We will remind, President Vladimir Putin announced new measures of support during his address to the Federal Assembly. From August 16, families with children aged 6 to 18 will begin to receive payments in the amount of 10 thousand rubles. More than eight million families have already applied.

Sberbank had previously warned that telephone scammers who “are trying to turn over and use” any payments from the state could arrange an attack on the Russians. Specialists are preparing for an influx of calls from citizens for advice on payments to schoolchildren.
