Curating Leading Local Products, BRI Supports Gernas BBI West Sumatra – PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BRI continues to encourage progress and capacity development of Indonesian MSMEs to be able to compete at home and abroad. One of these efforts was shown through the support of the West Sumatra Proudly Made National Movement (Gernas BBI) event held by the Financial Services Authority (OJK).

In this event, BRI acts as Top Brands that fully supports the acceleration of the digital transformation of MSMEs, by carrying the proud spirit of local products and encouraging nation branding for superior local products.

The event with the theme “MSMEs Rise, Economy Grows Forward Blessings of West Sumatra MSMEs” was opened directly by the Vice President of the Republic Ma’ruf Amin, accompanied by the Minister of Tourism & Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia Sandiaga Uno, Governor of West Sumatra Mahyeldi Ansharullah and attended online by the Minister Maritime & Investment Coordinator Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan at the Jam Gadang platform, Bukittinggi City.

Related to this, BRI’s Director of Small and Medium Business, Amam Sukriyanto said, BRI acts as a curator to ensure licensing and quality of MSME products. “It has become BRI’s commitment to continue to encourage progress and development of the capacity and quality of Indonesian MSMEs. According to Amam, Indonesian MSMEs have uniqueness and continuity that is maintained so they can’t compete with global products. These business actors have helped support the national economy, both in times of crisis and post-pandemic.

The participants who registered to take part in the curation of this event came from MSMEs assisted by BRI, OJK, Bank Indonesia (BI), Nagari Bank, Regional Government, and local City Governments.

The total number of registrants reached 332 MSMEs from 10 cities/districts with five product categories, namely home décor & craft, food & beverage, accessories & beauty, fashion, and agribusiness.

Not only that, in order to support the West Sumatra BBI Gernas, BRI is also committed to increasing MSME literacy through podcasts & talk shows which will be held throughout April – May 2022. It is hoped that with this effort, West Sumatra MSMEs can advance to class.

“BRI will provide ongoing guidance to reach a wider market for MSMEs. This training is intended so that business actors can achieve national and international product standards,” added Amam. BRI also facilitated the training through the BRI SOE House located at the Bukittinggi & Padang Panjang SOE House.
