CUPRA officially begins mass production of the first fully electric CUPRA Born car at the Zwickau plant in Germany
The production of this CUPRA model marks the beginning of a new era. The Zwickau plant is the Volkswagen Group’s first plant for 100% electric vehicles and is considered to be the largest and most efficient electric vehicle plant in Europe.
With a daily production of up to 1,400 vehicles, the German factory has an annual production capacity of about 330,000 electric cars.
In addition to the CUPRA Born, the factory produces four other models, the Volkswagen ID.3 and ID.4, the Audi Q4 e-tron and the Q4 Sportback e-tron.
Born is the first model of the CUPRA brand to follow the concept of reducing CO2 emissions, using energy from renewable sources in the production chain.
Some parts for these vehicles are made from recycled materials originating from the Mediterranean Sea, which further contributes to the preservation of the Mediterranean and the environment.
