CUEME cooperatives manufacture the products for sale on June 7

The cooperatives of the José Echegaray, Mercè Rodoreda, La Mercè and El Pontarró schools, participants in the ‘Entrepreneurial Culture at School’ (CUEME) project, are preparing their products for sale at the CUEME Market, which will take place on Tuesday 7 June, on the Rambla de Les Bòbiles.

These weeks the eight cooperatives are carrying out the production of their products, once again in an artisanal way, as the program ‘Entrepreneurial Culture at School’ supports sustainable production. So all schools are making use of reused or eco-friendly materials. From there, they are making figures with clay, bracelets, keychains and many other useful objects.

As a novelty, the José Echegaray School has promoted the creation of products with 3D printing, another way of making products and achieving a more resistant and lasting result. Students previously prepare and model the designs with computer software and, once the best models have been completed and chosen, they begin production with vegetable-based filament with a 3D printer, so as not to have to use plastic materials.

They have been working all year and now it is time to get the material ready to go out and sell the products they are making. In parallel to the elaboration of the products, the young cooperativists will carry out a window dressing workshop and will also attend Ràdio Martorell to create an advertising wedge and to spread their cooperatives and the market on June 7 and thus achieve the maximum attendance of the citizens of Martorell.

‘Entrepreneurial Culture at School’

CUEME is promoted by the Barcelona Provincial Council and managed by the City Council through the Departments of Economic Promotion and Education. Encourages the creation and management of school cooperatives throughout the year, with the support of the educational community, the administration and other social agents in their locality.

In the last edition, marked by the format online, were more than 9,600 students from 236 schools in 52 local bodies. This year, thanks to the improvement of the problems generated by the COVID-19, all the training capsules such as the cooperative workshop, design of logo images, market study, calculation of the price of new products, sales techniques, among others are being done again in person.
