Dilibau – a collection of stories with Oltenian humor, inspired by the author’s childhood.
Cristiana Belodan, an advertising man with over 15 years of experience in the advertising industry, launches Dilibau, his first book inspired by childhood memories in Oltenia. Full of humor and emotion, the book could be the Oltenian version, from the late 1980s and early 1990s, of Creangă’s Memories, only from the perspective of a Smărăndiță of the pope from Caracal. Dilibau exists, she is a real character, and Cristiana tells in a grumpy style, pigmented with many Oltenisms, the antics with which her brother colored her childhood.
“This thought has been visiting me for more than ten years: to write a book with stories from my beloved Oltenia. This is how Dilibau was born, out of the desire to generate emotion. I knew, from title to content, that I wanted to make people laugh. And the launch of the book coincided with this period, when I think we need to laugh more than ever “, says Cristiana.
She also prepared a funny clip to promote the book:
Dilibau addresses the Nostalgia generation, those who are now parents but have not forgotten their childhood with long summer holidays in the country. But also to those of the new generation who can discover, through the eyes of Smărăndița from Caracal, authentic stories about a space and while today it seems hard to believe that they existed, somewhere under the heat of the sun in Oltenia.
The book is published by Curtea Veche Publishing and can be found both on the publisher’s website as well as in bookstores.
Cristiana Belodan was born in Caracal, in a priest’s family, on September 19, 1982. She spent her childhood and adolescence in the Caracal lands, and her student years in the footsteps of Blaga, in Sibiu. He followed his dream of working in advertising agencies, in Bucharest, currently holding the position of Director of Strategy & Transformation within the Oxygen agency. After years of career in advertising, he managed to put another dream on the page: writing the first volume of memories – Dilibau.
