According to the newsletter issued by the Municipal Civil Protection Authority, 16 users of the Maria Inácia Vogado Perdigão Silva Foundation (FMIVPS) are hospitalized today, two more than on Thursday, in addition to an infected man who has been detected in the community.

Five of the hospitalized home users were in the ICU today (two more than the day before), as well as the only community case requiring hospital care.

The remaining infected users are recovering at the FMIVPS facilities and in their own or family homes, while all affected employees are recovering in their homes.

Towards the end of today, it is planned to transfer about 60 elderly people infected with covid-19 from the FMIVPS home to a pavilion, transformed into a Hospital de Campanha, in the fair park of Reguengos de Monsaraz.

It is “an air-conditioned pavilion” and which, “in the face of approaching temperatures”, in the order of 40 degrees centigrade, is more suitable for the quality of life “of the elderly, having” outdoor spaces in which they can move around. if “, therefore, the fairground is closed, the president of the Chamber of Reguengos de Monsaraz, José Calixto, told Lusa.

The number of active cases recorded to date, however, has risen to 142 (138 on Thursday), of which 94 concern users (72) and employees (22) in the home and 48 in the community (plus four), in a day when there was no record of any death by covid-19 in the municipality since the previous update.

Still, there are eight fatalities since the outbreak began on June 18, seven home users and a 42-year-old employee.

Deaths resulting from the outbreak at home began with the death of a user aged around 70 (on the 24th) and a user of 92 years (on the 25th), who joined in the early hours of Thursday the death of a 94 years old woman.

The other deaths were of patients admitted to HESE, more precisely four elderly women, 82 years old (last Saturday), 91 and 89 years old (on Monday) and another 92 years old, on Wednesday, day in that a 42-year-old employee of the home also died in hospital.

The figures refer to a universe of about 1,650 tests carried out until the end of Thursday, the day when the results of about 150 tests were known.

As of today, the day when the cure tests should begin, there are also about 30 additional tests related to this outbreak.

Still, a source from the chamber contacted by the Lusa agency explained that the Health Authorities have already counted “the first cured case”, that of “a nurse” at the FMIVPS home (so the number of infected workers at the institution dropped on Thursday from 23 to 22).

The municipality activated, on Thursday, the Municipal Emergency Plan to manage the outbreak of covid-19 in the municipality, after most of mainland Portugal went on alert the day before.

The alert situation, the one in which the country found itself before the state of emergency was decreed on March 18, is the lowest level of intervention provided for in the Civil Protection Bases Law, after the contingency and calamity situation ( higher).

With the situation at home, the municipality of Reguengos de Monsaraz registers the biggest outbreak of the disease caused by the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 in Alentejo with eight dead and 142 active cases.

Portugal accounts for at least 1,587 deaths associated with covid-19 in 42,782 confirmed cases of infection, according to the latest bulletin from the Directorate-General for Health (DGS).
