Covid-19. Government puts two counties on the “lapse” alert list – Portugal

Castro Daire and Chamusca did not register enough new cases of covid-19 to be considered at risk, but were included in the alert list in the same. Government admits “lapse” and adds that the two councils have already been removed from the list.

The municipalities of Castro Daire and Chamusca were placed by mistake this Thursday in the list of municipalities on alert of covid-19. On Thursday, after the meeting of the Council of Ministers, the Minister of the Presidency, Mariana Vieira da Silva, announced that 19 councils were under surveillance and could retreat into deconfinement next week, but Chamusca, in the district of Santarém, and Castro Daire , in the district of Viseu, did not register enough cases to be included in this list.

According to the bulletin of the Directorate-General of Health released this Friday, Castro Daire recorded an incidence of 137 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last two weeks, while Chamusca recorded an incidence of 120 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

Since they are considered to have low density, and according to the rules established by the Government at the beginning of June, they would need an incidence of 240 to be included in the alert list, which did not happen.
