Portugal may receive 2.5 million vaccines in the first quarter of the year, said the minister of Health this Monday.
The update of the estimate was revealed by Marta Temido at a press conference after a meeting of the vaccination plan’s task force.
Marta Temido said that, until the end of the first quarter, Portugal could receive 2.5 million doses of vaccines for Covid-19.
“There is an approximation here to the plan of quantities contacted, but that is not yet fully confirmed”, underlines the Minister of Health.
The 2.5 million figure is a positive development compared to the forecasts made last week by the prime minister. António Costa said on Thursday that Portugal should only receive by the end of March half of the 4 million vaccines contracted, more specifically 1.98 million doses.
The Minister of Health advanced this Monday that, so far, Portugal has received about 800 thousand doses of vaccines.
Two hundred thousand people have already taken two doses of the vaccine for Covid-19, said Marta Temido.
“Up to 13h00, 533 thousand inoculations, 333 thousand first doses and 200 thousand second doses had been carried out”, he underlined.
