The 2020 by CORSAIR brought us the 4000D, 4000D Airflow and iCUE 4000X RGB cases, or Mid Towers characterized by an excellent quality / price ratio, ideal for those who are looking for a complete and versatile product in which to assemble their gaming configuration .
The new year opens in the best possible way for CORSAIR which, thanks to the approval obtained by the 4000 series, has decided to expand its range of homes by presenting the 5000 series, consisting of the 5000D, 5000D Airflow and iCUE 5000X RGB models.
The latter, the protagonist of our review today, is the big brother of the 4000X and is a “Premium” Mid Tower, characterized by four easily removable glass panels and the presence of three SP RGB ELITE fans complete with six-channel HUB and a controller for the management of the lighting software.
If with the 4000 series we have seen the implementation of the cabling system called RapidRoute, the 5000 series is extremely innovative, introducing a customizable flow management system that allows, by removing a panel, to use or “cover” the predisposition for three 120mm fans present to the right of the mainboard plate.
In addition to these and the aforementioned three 120mm SP RGB ELITE positioned frontally, three other 120mm fans will find space on the top and one, of the same size, on the back.
All the predispositions can also be used to contain radiators that are part of AiO or custom liquid cooling systems, however it will be possible to use a high performance air cooler for your CPU thanks to a maximum height allowed of 170mm.
Another gem of the 5000X is an additional element positioned immediately behind the right glass bulkhead that will allow you to completely cover or show off the back of the mainboard plate where, among other things, three 2-inch drives can be installed. 5 “in addition to two other 2.5” or 3.5 “in the special basket positioned in the compartment dedicated to the power supply unit and two 2.5” on the dividing surface of the same compartment.
Before proceeding with our analysis we leave you, as usual, to the table containing the technical specifications of the case under review.
