PARIS (Reuters) – France has registered 18 additional coronavirus-related deaths in the past 24 hours at the hospital, the Directorate General of Health (DGS) announced Friday evening, for a total of 29,893 deaths since the start of the ‘epidemic.

The number of patients hospitalized for a Covid-19 infection continues to decline, falling below the threshold of 8,000 for the first time since March 22, to 7,990 against 8,148 Thursday evening.

Same trend for severe forms requiring care in the intensive care unit: there were only 560 against 573 the day before. The decline has been constant since the peak reached on April 8: there were then 7,148 patients treated in intensive care for a Covid-19 infection.
