SYDNEY (Reuters) – Containment in Sydney will be extended for at least 14 days after 97 new cases of contamination were identified, Australian authorities said on Wednesday.

“We need to extend the lockdown for at least two weeks,” said New South Wales Prime Minister Gladys Berejiklian.

She also recalled that containment, in place since June 26, will be lifted when the number of cases of contamination is close to zero.
