If you have been infected with coronavirus since December, there is a high probability that you have just caught a super fast British variant. But now we know what to do.
The Public Health Office published on Facebook important information. He confirmed that the British mutation Covid-19 was already in Slovakia in November, and during the December area testing in Trenčín it already dominated. Martin Smatana, an analyst and former head of the Institute for Health Policy, surprisingly considers this to be good news.
The mutant won
In Slovakia, we can already use PCR tests to diagnose a new British variant of Covid-19, which spreads much faster than the original virus. Trenčians, who passed a positive antigen test in December as part of the area testing, subsequently passed the renewed PCR tests. The result is clear.
“Of the total number of these samples, the British variant SARS-CoV-2 was confirmed in 57% of cases,” I write hygienists.
According to analyst Martin Smatana, this logically means that a similar situation is now in the whole country. The British mutant is spreading much faster than its original variant.
“It is very likely that today the British variant of Covid-19 is the dominant form in the whole of Slovakia,” stated by M. Smatana at Facebook.
Why it’s good
The former head of the Institute of Health Policy reacted surprisingly positively to Facebook. “This is great news.” He explains that we finally now know what we are up to and can adjust accordingly.
So far, we could assume that the English mutation of the virus is not widespread in our country and lockdown does not help reduce the rate of spread of Covid-19 due to irresponsible people. “In practice, this added the most to the need for surface testing – because it would prove that simply a lockdown is no longer the solution.” states the analyst.
But now the hygienists’ findings have shown that ** the problem is not irresponsible people who do not follow the lockdown, but a new variant of the virus that is much faster **.
“That would be a good sign, because we know that measures can sustain the virus, we just need to revise hygiene standards and tighten them,” adds M. Smatana.
In other words, anti-epidemiological measures also need to be improved for an improved virus, and we can win the war. “Super work Public Health Office of the Slovak Republic. Of course, I’m not happy that we have a more aggressive form of the virus here. I am pleased that we know why the measures are not working as expected and we know what to do next to “fix it,” concluded the analyst.
