Comrade Enver’s bunkers – Siukum Balal’s blog

If we consider Enver Hoxha a possessed dictator, a paranoid and a stupid communist apparatchik, we will not understand the phenomenon of Albanian bunkers. He was the same Marxist as all the rest of the communist dictators. And although the same is different, because it differed quite strongly from the rest of this communist panopticum. This was not the type of impetuous Khrushchev – kolkhoznik. He was not a stubborn, impulsive self-taught person similar to our comrade Wiesław. The Romanian leader Ceaucescu – a shoemaker by profession – is not included in this ranking because he was a real Marxist intellectual à rebours. Hoxha, compared to the rest of the communist world elite, was, however, a full-fledged intellectual. Studies at the University of Montpellier, then studies in Paris, additionally two years of law studies in Brussels. Before the war, he worked for a short time as an Albanian consul in Belgium. Fluency in four languages. His knowledge of French even allowed him to publish articles in French Marxist newspapers. After returning to Albania – before the war broke out – he worked as a French teacher in a high school in Korcza. A CV that no communist had. So why the demented bunker paranoia in Albania? The eternal sense of the threat of invasion from the American imperialists, Moscow revisionists, Italian and Greek aggressors, and Comrade Tito. It was all a “child” of Marxism-Leninism, the most insane political system invented by man. This system worked like that. Unable to satisfy basic human needs, unable to utilize social energy, he created such situations and generated people ready to implement the most ridiculous projects. Half the trouble if it was telling people that the Colorado beetle dropped from American planes is responsible for the crop failure. It was not a problem if he forced kolkhozniks to run across a field with brushes and pollinate wheat like bees, in the hope of creating varieties ready to grow behind the Arctic Circle. To this day in Russia you can find rickety oak forests, oaks planted in accordance with the doctrine of Marxism – Leninism, the so-called the nest method, because every forester knows that the trees in the collective develop better, supporting each other’s development. Blunt and hard oaks turned out to be extremely resistant to the wisdom flowing from the Marxist spring and they did not want to grow in a collective. The oak man weaker and had to succumb. All this – the above – is a bet, because there was no political system before that, more than communism, bathed humanity in the blood. Albania has gone exactly the same path as the rest of the communist countries, with the murdering of imaginary and real enemies of the system. With the murder and destruction of the academic staff, to finally get on with their own, and according to the rules of the revolution that “eats its own children”, start hanging and shooting the party’s assets and pillars of the regime: military and security service officers.

So Albanians – and not only them – also succumbed to Marxist oppression and had to take part in this modern version of building “cathedrals” in this demonic attempt to integrate society around issues that would be of interest to psychiatry in other countries. In Albania, it also failed, because only about 170,000 were built from the original plans to build one bunker for each Albanian family.

Although it is not much, however, because the law of the communist paradox, they have become a tourist attraction of Albania, attracting about 3 million tourists annually. Albania bunkers are everywhere. Equally: in souvenir shops and in the fields, in cities and in the middle of the road. On a farmyard plot and on the busiest street in Tirana. In the city park and on the beach. Everywhere.

To be continued, because, unfortunately, they call me to work.
