COMMENT: Let’s not blame the governors, Babiš was prevented from further anarchy and the opposition will be heard

During the pandemic, he spent a sea of time, relying on the Communists, so instead of an infection, he even wanted to deal with the gardening law, which would not please even the do-it-yourself king Přemek Podlaha in the current situation. For almost a year now, Prime Minister Andrej Babiš has not been dealing with covid-19, which has so far affected more than 18,000 patients. From the beginning of his coronavirus trouble, he enjoyed government press conferences at which he claimed that he would personally deliver a mouthpiece to anyone without a veil.

He knew that the sensitive governor’s soul would not reject him

When the cabinet failed to tame the virus, it withdrew from the light of the cameras and turned everything over to government colleagues so that he could say his usual: I’m nothing, it’s them. He must have forgotten that last spring he declared to the nation that he was personally responsible for all the steps. After a year, the reality is that in all measures it only causes chaos, complete anarchy and ministers are afraid of its roar like rabbits, as aptly stated the vice-chairman of the CSSD parliamentary club, Ondřej Veselý.

Babiš has started hanging out since the October declaration of a state of emergency regarding the unfavorable epidemiological situation. He knew that he had the Communists behind him in the Chamber of Deputies, who constantly came to his hands. So why would it be active, because turning off the ground is such an easy solution? He despised the opposition and its proposals, indulging in ignorance. He did not collapse from the deteriorating situation and the failure of the vaccination strategy was traditionally blamed on everyone around him. He was sure that in the growing devastation, he would traditionally pull the emergency brake, which was an emergency for him. He went to greet the comrades, patted them on the shoulders, made concessions as they had been ordered, and subscribed so that he had almost nothing to do or deal with again.

But the red party suddenly gave him obedience. Apparently she, too, was amazed at how Babiš devastated the country by doing nothing, and perhaps they thought that even their Bolshevik predecessors did not plunder the state like him during totalitarianism. However, the Prime Minister did not take their warning that they no longer intended to support him seriously. He was convinced that he would take them to his side as he had several times. In something he will meet them and it will be cool again. But it was not, the KSČM revolted.

And so, from Thursday night, Babiš had to wake up quickly from a hangover. He was not disoriented for a long time. He focused his attention on the governors. The heads of the regions are not national politicians, they were elected to take care of the entrusted administrative unit to the best of their knowledge. The Prime Minister took advantage of the fact that the governors face the reality of a devastating coronavirus pandemic on a daily basis. They go to hospitals, they are actually in the front line. When Babiš hit them what could happen, when he would have to relax from Monday, he put them under pressure. They could not imagine that their rejection could cause other people to die, so they unanimously asked for the extension of the state of emergency to be the same everywhere. The prime minister knew well where to aim. He predicted well that the sensitive governor’s soul, who sees so much suffering every day, would not say no, while some deputies had no idea where the nearest hospital was, and all the dramas that took place in the facility were mediated only by television footage or media articles. He literally abused their sensitivity or kindness.

While Babiš continues to thank the governors, they themselves become the target of anger. The right-wing heads of the regions are being beaten by coalition allies. They accuse them of acting unconstitutionally and the only thing they have achieved is the abolition of restrictive hours in the office or the opening of a service window in the library, which, according to them, is very damn little. And the public was not left behind with criticism. Part of the population writes vulgar, threatening e-mails stating that the self-employed people are going bankrupt because they could open from Monday and everyone was already happy and the premises for customers were ready.

The prime minister knows well how to overwhelm the nation

And this is where Babiš’s mastery of how to envelop a part of the nation is revealed. In the greatest commotion, no one remembers his name and people swear at those who are not to blame. The government did not bother to explain to the people during the state of emergency what it was actually used for. And so part of society told itself that when it was over, life would finally return to normal, all restrictions would cease to apply, which was a huge mistake from the beginning. And now that the state of emergency still persists, part of the population blames the governors for suffocating them with a light at the end of a decadent tunnel. They are cursed by entrepreneurs, tradesmen and bathers. Ski lifts and ski resorts cannot be named after them.

But the governors are not really here to run the state and decide nationwide what will happen during the pandemic. Babiš only analyzed well where he would not be denied help, although it is clear to him that the right-wing governors sacrificed themselves against their party beliefs. If a state of emergency were declared only in some regions, total destruction would be inflicted. If, for example, the Central Bohemian Region did not agree and disintegrated, the whole republic would occupy it and throw itself into shops and services.

It is not wise to damn and pollute the governors, although those who have ever been self-employed can understand the lamentations of self-employed people and their longings. They did one crucial thing. They forced Babiš to do something, brought him to the negotiating table, which the opposition has never managed to do. They made it clear to him that they were only giving him fourteen days, not an extra second. During them, he must finally come up with logical measures. They themselves get involved in the issue of pupils’ return to school and devise a form of testing and consider how to ensure the distribution of non-invasive tests, as it is unacceptable for some parents for someone to poke their offspring in the nose.

When the emotions of the public and fellow members subside, the governors will come to a different light. After all, the opposition, which has so far been insultingly overlooked by the head of the government, is to negotiate with Babiš tomorrow, and the prime minister rejoiced at how he was degrading it. And if they did not enter the negotiations, what would happen? It would subside for a few days, then the contagion would start to reach record numbers, Babiš would go to the communists, convince them on the basis of tragic statistics and some concessions, and a month-long state would again be declared by the Chamber of Deputies. There was nothing reasonable about the confusion, the opposition could only write its proposals on social networks, as the head of the cabinet would ignore it again. Instead, he will suddenly have to listen to them and deal with a pandemic law. Babiš finally realized that he really had to start waking up and waking up, and nothing would change that the Chamber of Deputies could immediately lift the renewed state of emergency. And so we can actually say: Thanks, governors.
