Cologne: Self-designed art bags are auctioned online

“Our campaign got off to a very good start. There was great interest. Lots of people came to the gallery and agreed to bid, ”said comedian Mirja Boes on Sunday. Last December, she and entrepreneur Bernd Böhringer designed a shopping bag in the form of an enlarged FTP2 protective mouth and nose mask in order to support Cologne’s particularly troubled cultural industry with the proceeds from the sale (49 euros). So far, just under 20,000 euros have been donated.

Designed by famous artists

15 of these bags – meanwhile “designed and refined” by well-known artists – were exhibited at the 30works gallery on Pfeilstrasse at the weekend and are now being auctioned in the KSTA shop. “I’m also offering,” announced Boes, who picked out the bag designed with a monkey head by Paul Sous (stage name: Captain Nobbi). Böhringer uses Anton Fuchs’ “black gold”, while gallery owner Gérard Margaritis favors the work of “Banana sprayer” Thomas Baumgärtel.

“It’s not filigree, but striking. The banana is always an eye-catcher. ”Those interested in looking at the original art bags can do so in the currently closed KSTA shop (Breite Straße 80-90). From this Tuesday, the works of art will be displayed there in the shop window.
