On Thursday evening, a fire broke out in an apartment building on Merheimerstraße near Werkstattstraße in Nippes. The Cologne fire brigade received an emergency call at 9:40 p.m.
An attic apartment on the fourth floor was completely burned out, said emergency services on site. An elderly man was taken to hospital seriously injured.
