Fidesz’s pseudo-civilian organization spent a little too much.
Based on its latest annual balance sheet, the Civil Solidarity Foundation (CÖKA), the pseudo-civilian organization that organizes the Orbán government’s Peace March demonstrations, was able to operate with 80 million forints more than the year before, a total of 637.6 million forints. However, with more money came more expenses – writes a hvg.hu.
For example, the expenses of the so-called public benefit activities of pseudo-civilians more than doubled, from HUF 236.3 million to HUF 480.4 million. But last year proved to be a milestone for them not only because of this: in 2022, they were able to manage with more money than ever before, HUF 637 million, and they also obtained a record donation of HUF 582 million. The paper recalls that the previous record was 2016, when only the state-owned Magyar Villamos Művek Zrt. gave CÖKA more than half a billion, 508 million forints to “improve public opinion”, and they also received from the Fidesz party foundation support.
The financial result has already become much more modest compared to the previous ones, after the 252 million in 2021, last year they collected a surplus of “only” 102 million forints. In itself, of course, there is no need to shed tears, but the foundation also has a real business, founded at the beginning of 2021, which, like before, again produced a significant failure. Follow us 2022 Kft. had a net sales of HUF 125.4 million and a loss of HUF 177.2 million last year.
