Cocktail explosion in Chatmohar, 4 seizures

Two cocktail explosions took place in front of the business establishment of BNP leader and former upazila chairman H Islam Heera in Chatmohar, Pabna. Police seized four unexploded cocktails from the spot.

The incident took place on Tuesday (November 22) around 9 pm in Afratpara Mohalla of the city. However, BNP has claimed that the incident was ‘fixed’.

Confirming the fact of the incident, Chatmohar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jalal Uddin said that BNP leaders and activists were having a secret meeting inside the business establishment of Hasadul Islam Heera, the former General Secretary of Upazila BNP and the owner of Diamond Food and Beverage in Afratpara Mohalla.

When they raided there on the basis of secret information, BNP leaders and activists made two cocktail explosions when they sensed the presence of the police. Later, when the police gave chase, everyone ran away. After that, the police seized 4 unexploded cocktails from the scene. The OC said that the matter of filing a case at the police station is under process.

In this regard, former general secretary of upazila BNP and former upazila chairman Hasadul Islam Hira said, “There was no meeting of BNP in my business establishment on Tuesday.” We had a meeting on Monday. There is no question of BNP meeting or cocktail explosion. It is a drama orchestrated by the police and Chhatra League to frame BNP leaders and activists. This incident has been arranged so that the leaders and workers of Chatmohar Upazila BNP cannot participate in the Rajshahi divisional rally of BNP on December 3. Now in this incident, upazila BNP leaders and activists will be harassed with false cases.
