CMTV took advantage of the eve of the launch of CNN Portugal, which will take place next Monday at 9 pm, to carry out a guerrilla action at the channel’s facilities in Queluz de Baixo.
This Friday, several members of the team, such as the channel’s director, Nuno Santos, but also the chairman of the board of directors of Media Capital, Mário Ferreira, received a cardboard tube with a postcard and a map of Portugal. “Welcome, CNN. As soon as you can, come visit us. We send a map of Portugal to make it easier to locate us. We know how difficult it is for outsiders to adapt to the terrain”, the postcard could read.
This action is part of the plan of the most recent advertising campaign for the Cofina channel, developed by FCB Lisbon and which is focused on CMTV’s Portugal. Present in press, television and digital, the television film is based on a blind test between a Portuguese bifana and an American hotdog, in an allusion to the new channel. About the bifana, also this Friday at the beginning of the afternoon, bifana accompanied by a Portuguese flag were distributed in the newsroom of CMTV.
In a message posted on Facebook, Mário Ferreira wrote: “I have to admit that he had his joke and demonstrates how much the competition is valuing the arrival of our CNN channel”. Nuno Santos also reacted on the same social network: “We have the greatest respect for all our competitors, for those who consider themselves our competitors, and give us such importance. We didn’t count, but it’s comforting. As for the essentials, Portugal was never small. It is one of those rare ancient nations that knows how to receive, learn and grow”.
The CNN Portugal launch event, which is expected to be attended by 400 people, will take place on Monday, November 22, from 6 pm at the Jerónimos Monastery. Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and Rani Raad, president of CNN Worldwide Commercial, who are part of the delegation of 12 people from the North American channel, are expected to attend.
Remember that the CNN Portugal launch advertising campaign is signed by Partners.
