Cleer Audio presents Crescent, a stylish design wireless speaker compatible with Google Assistant

January 14, 2021

With so many “smart” loudspeakers with boring cylindrical shapes, it is appreciated that from time to time manufacturers opt for models with a more innovative and striking design without thereby losing the sobriety and elegance of classic HiFi equipment, something in which they have surely thought the engineers after this new launch of Cleer Audio under the name of Crescent Smart Home Speaker.

With a most peculiar design that partially reminds the speaker Zeppelin de Bowers & Wilkins that I had the chance to try a few years ago or even to the alien ships from the movie “The arrival”, certainly does not go unnoticed and can become a decorative element more of the living room where we install it.

It is built around a large stainless steel grate that lines the top, front and back of the rig, embracing rounded elliptical shapes with a flat top area to house the speaker’s basic playback controls.

Inside it mounts a 8-driver 40mm linear array diameter and full range that we must place pointing at the viewer and two 3.3-inch subwoofers in the opposite direction to improve frequency response.

Precise

It has three different modes of operation that will offer different types of sound scenes. So we have the Wide Stereo that reproduces a classic two-channel experience for relatively close listening, the Room Filling which, as its name suggests, tries to expand the soundstage throughout the room and the way Inmmersive which tries to create a more enveloping and diffuse sound by extending the sweet listening point.

The speaker is compatible with Google Assistant thanks to an array of microphones that allows us to give direct voice commands, supports Spotify Connect, Apple AirPlay 2, Chromecast and the playback of AAC, FLAC, WMA, MP3 and Apple Lossless files. It has WiFi connectivity, a 3.5 mm jack auxiliary input, RJ25 and digital optical input.

Price and availability

The new Crescent speaker will go on sale first in the United States later this January for a price of $ 699.99.
