Do the sounds from tidy concert halls match the twilight of the techno clubs? ZDF now has an experimental mix of different niches in the musical cosmos.
Young classical artists meet star DJs: In the two ZDF shows “Classic in the Club” there should be no musical limits, but surprising sounds and arrangements. The Berlin “Theater im Delphi” is the venue for music by Gershwin and Satie, for orchestrated DJ versions of “Das Boot”, Bach’s “Air” and the pop hit “Rhythm Is a Dancer”. Jo Schück will present the two extraordinary music programs on Friday, July 3rd at 11:15 p.m. and on August 21st, 2020 at 11:30 p.m.
In the first show: the German-Japanese pianist Alice Sara Ott, the Egyptian soprano Fatma Said and the Franco-Belgian cellist Camille Thomas. The German DJ and producer Alex Christensen (U 96) is at the DJ desk.
On August 21, the Norwegian violinist Eldbjørg Hemsing, the English pianist Isata Kanneh-Mason and the six young musicians from “Louie’s Cage Percussion” will perform. Star DJ of the evening: Maximilian Lenz alias WestBam, the pioneer of the German techno scene and co-founder of the Loveparade. The Berlin Music Ensemble, directed by Johannes Zurl, plays in both programs.
