Chinese luxury SUV arrives in Europe

This large luxury SUV 100% electric, with false airs of Rolls-Royce, is about to land on the Old Continent.

Hongqi (which means “red flag” in Mandarin) is a trademark of the Chinese group FAW, which is favored by the Chinese Communist Party. The firm is about to make its debut in Europe with the Hongqi E-HS9 : a large luxury SUV 100% electric, which has false airs of Rolls-Royce Cullinan… And for good reason: the style boss at FAW is none other than Giles Taylor, the former design director of Rolls-Royce!

Offered in 6 or 7-seater versions, the Hongqi E-HS9 has four-wheel drive thanks to its two electric motors, offering a total of 429 to 543 horsepower depending on the version, with 0 to 100 km / h swallowed in barely 4.9 seconds. Two battery packs are offered, with a capacity of 84 kWh and 99 kWh, allowing respectively 396 km and 465 km of autonomy. Fast charging is possible with a power of up to 110 kW.

Hongqi E-HS9: first launched in Norway

While the brand is widely used in China, this is the first time it has been exported to Europe, with a early career in Norway, the spearhead of the electric automobile on the Old Continent. Not less than 500 copies have already been ordered by Norwegian customers, which will be delivered in the coming weeks by Motor Gruppen, a local importer specializing in electric cars and partner of Hongqi.

Price level, the Hongqi E-HS9 is offered at a price starting from 619,900 Norwegian kroner (the equivalent of approximately 64.000 euros) for the basic version “Comfort”, and from 779,900 crowns (approximately 80,500 euros) for the top-of-the-range version called “Exclusive”.
