China Again Report Deaths Due to Covid-19

Suara.com – The Covid-19 outbreak has killed nearly two million people worldwide. Every day, tens of thousands of people are reported to die from infection with the SARS Cov-2 corona virus.

Data from the worldometers.info site as of Thursday (15/1/2021) at 09.00 WIB recorded that 15,942 people died in the last 24 hours. Now, the total accumulated deaths due to Covid-19 in the world are 1,985,064 people.

The highest total of deaths occurred in the United States and Brazil. The two countries in the Americas have reported a death toll of over 200 thousand.

In fact, the United States has recorded 390 thousand deaths since the first outbreak.

Now, deaths due to Covid-19 have also returned to the country where the virus was found.

China reported a death from Covid-19 on Thursday (14/1). The report is the first in eight months since China has been assessed as having managed to control the transmission of the coronavirus.

No details were given about the latest deaths by China’s health authorities except for those in Hebei province, where the government has locked down several cities, according to Channel News Asia.

China has largely brought the virus under control after strict lockdowns, mass testing and travel restrictions.

But in recent weeks, the addition of positive cases is reported to have increased again, especially in northern China.

China’s National Health Commission reported 138 new infections today. That number is also the highest since March last year.

The total number of Covid-19 cases in China to date has reached 87,706 infections. With the death of 4,635 people and who have been declared cured there are 82,288 people.

Currently, China only has 784 active cases of Covid-19, 21 of whom are in critical condition.

Authorities last week launched mass trials and closed transportation networks, schools and shops in the Hebei capital, Shijiazhuang, which has been at the center of the outbreak.

Another province in northeast Heilongjiang, declared a “state of emergency” on Wednesday, telling its 37 million inhabitants not to leave the province unless absolutely necessary.

The new deaths from Covid-19 come as China prepares for the arrival of a team of expert scientists from WHO, who will begin an investigation into the origins of the Covid-19 pandemic. The 10-member team is expected to arrive in Wuhan today.
