Change of residence online throughout Italy from today

Change of residence online: here’s how

From today, Wednesday 27 April 2022, it is possible to change residence from one municipality to another with a simple click.

It will therefore no longer be necessary to make grueling queues at the municipal offices.
The bureaucratic process will be completely manageable online, directly from the portal of the national registry of the resident population (ANPR).

Last February a first run-in phase was started which involved 31 administrations. From today, the service is extended on the whole territory national.

The portal of the national registry can be accessed from the website, also available at the address

To start the procedure you need to access the ANPR portal via:

  • SPIDDigital Identity
  • CIEElectronic Identity Card
  • CNSNational Service Card

Once you have accessed, proceed by filling in the personal data request online – for yourself and possibly for the other members of your personal data family – and send it to the competent Municipality. By following the various indications published in the service area step by step, the process will take place completely automatically.

The online service refers to the following documents:

  • certificate of change of residence with transfer from a different municipality or from abroad
  • certificate of change of residence within the same territory

Always with the same system, it is also possible to send a request for:

  • new residence relating to the transfer to a new home, even where there are people with whom there is no parental or emotional ties
  • residence in an existing family, in a home where there are people with whom you have family or emotional ties, specifying one of the members of the family in which you join

From the reserved area it is also possible to consult the progress of the request presented as well as indicate an e-mail address where to receive the relative updates.

The new service, accessible to citizens who have reached the age of majority, adds to the already active possibility of downloading personal certificates.
